Interestingly, once you focus in on the detail you will note that the house is far from traditional with excess levels of insulation, heating from an ‘Airsource heat Pump’, a ‘Heat Recovery System’, a ‘Rainwater harvesting System’, PV Solar panels on the roof and Scandinavian triple glazed composite windows. The clients’ enthusiasm went even further and sourced reclaimed cabinets to make the utility room, and sanitary ware for the bathrooms.
Our clients had lived in Tisbury for many years and in their retirement wanted to build a new house on their neighbouring paddock. They were passionate about adopting many of the technologies that are used for modern passive homes and did so with resounding success. The house was built using a pre-fabricated timber frame that was erected in a couple of weeks. The walls of the house were then constructed with local stone from Chilmark and the roof tiled with plain tiles, producing a beautiful traditional house in keeping with its surroundings.
A large part of the work we carry out are new build homes, they have been all diffent styles and building techniques from traditional block and stone construction country cottages, timber frame garages to timber clad, oak frame town houses. Each one is different and that is what is so great about what we do, each project offers a new challenge or technique to be learnt.
